Dash’s Take on the Math Medic Review Course

By Dashiell Young-Saver

Recently, Math Medic asked me to write about my experience using their AP Stats Exam Review Course. I thought back to when I first learned about the review course. It was about this time four years ago, when school suddenly moved online for the pandemic. The College Board announced that the AP Stats Exams were still happening. I just remember thinking: “How are we going to do this?”

Then, a beacon of hope hit my inbox:

Math Medic (called “Stats Medic” at the time) was offering the Review Course free to schools impacted by the pandemic. I signed up and, after about 5 minutes of exploring the course, I realized that this was exactly what we needed to get students ready for the AP Exam. I also realized that it wasn’t just a 2020 stopgap. It was going to be a resource I’d use with students every year.

In the post, I share more about my experience using the course with students. In addition, my awesome former student Rebecca Arredondo shares her reflections on using the course to prepare for the AP Exam. I'm so grateful to Rebecca for taking time to share her thoughts with the AP Stats community. Thank you!

And, of course, a huge thank you to Math Medic for offering these resources freely when we needed them most - and continuing to do so for classrooms (like mine) that serve a high proportion of low-income students. Thank you Luke and Lindsey for everything!

Let's skew it!
