Course Material
Students analyze datasets and build AI models in relevant contexts (social media, sports, business, public health, civics).
In 2 weeks, students cover 10 live online modules that move from the basics of the R programming language to advanced techniques (like neural networks). No prior coding experience is required and support is provided by instructors in small groups.
Week 1: Fundamentals
Week 2: Advanced
Students will walk away with a certificate of completion and a real data / AI project, to share with colleges and internships. Students choose projects from a variety of relevant topics, including sports, public health, business, civics, and the environment.
Class Structure & Dates
Each module includes 2.5 hours of live online instruction from experts, blending direct teaching with small-group collaboration.
The bootcamp takes place over two weeks during the summer (10 total modules, one per weekday). Start dates and times are flexible.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
Yes, we encourage recent high school graduates (within the past two years) to apply. Note: If you’re a K12 educator, check out our teacher program here.
-
Applications are considered on a rolling basis, with a final deadline of May 30th. You’ll hear back from us within two weeks of submitting your application. Applying earlier will increase chances of admission, as spots may fill.
-
Rather than using traditional academic metrics (like GPA), we focus more on your motivation for learning data science. So, we recommend paying extra attention to the “Why do you want to participate in this bootcamp?” question in the application. Both full-cost spots and scholarship spots in the bootcamp are limited. Applications are considered on a rolling basis, so we recommend applying early.
-
We expect participants to attend all bootcamp sessions in order to make the most out of this experience. However, we understand that unexpected circumstances can arise. In order to receive a certificate of completion, we ask that participants attend at least 9 out of the 10 sessions. We’ll also do our best to work with you on a case-by-case basis.
-
Yes! There is a low-cost asynchronous version of the bootcamp for K12 teachers. More information here.
-
Yes! The longest part of each module is the small group section time, where students work in small groups with peers and an expert instructor. These settings are excellent for receiving extra support. In addition, students and parents can reach out to the program administrators if they feel the need for further support, and we will provide flexible options.
-
Although prior experience is helpful, no coding experience or statistics experience is required to be successful in the bootcamp. Our small group instructional model provides support to students at various entry points. The only prerequisite is successful completion of Algebra I (or equivalent).
